The
Tennessee Boltsmokers The
Tennessee Boltsmokers helped us finish off our first year on Sunday night, November
14, in fine form. The wildly enthusiastic audience enjoyed more than two hours
of pickin' and harmonizin' from a polished quartet. You'll be hard pressed to
find a finer group anywhere in the country, and that's saying a lot! Several in
the crowd wouldn't leave until we promised to bring the Boltsmokers back again.
Stay tuned!

Chris Smither The
second event in our Coffee House Concert Series featuring Chris Smither was a
bona fide sell-out and one heckuva evening of entertainment. If you didn't make
it in, console yourself with the fact that the show will be broadcast October
27 on the internationally-syndicated radio show Beale Street Caravan, aired
locally on WKNO FM 91.1 and WEVL FM 89.9. Sid
Selvidge The
first show in CHC's new Coffee House Concerts Series was a rousing success. Over
125 enthusiastic listeners filled Cheney Parish Hall (also known as the Coffee
House) on Sunday night, May 9, for the inaugural concert in the series.
Sid
Selvidge
played, sang, autographed CDs, and played some more for a most appreciative crowd.
The Commercial Appeal's Bonnie Brantley covered the evening for Memphis' local
newspaper, and Sid's record company president, Ward Archer, of Archer Records,
was among the special guests in the audience.
The
Coffee House was appropriately decorated with paintings and framed photos of famous
blues artists from Sleepy John Estes, Muddy, B.B., and Albert King to Skip James.
A large George Hunt painting of Otha Turner and Jessie Mae Hemphill also graced
the room.
